Ever notice how liberals can wear one Constitutional amendment on their sleeve while ignoring others? The left can take the idea of abortion, still not settled law if state elections as it relates to amendments are any clue and turn around to demand gun control. According to the left the editorial page of The New York Times is protected by Amendment I but forget Amendment III when President George W. Bush did not run down to New Orleans after Katrina and lead troops to restore civil order. According to many Liberals international law, which is just as baffling to your author as the popularity of the television program ‘Dancing With The Stars’, should be applied and in fact should override the role of the US Supreme Court.

Another great example of their glaring flawed thought process involves the recent Minutemen and Columbia University showdown. As many know the Minutemen Project came about because the federal government either asleep at the wheel or just ignored current legislation designed to enforce prosecuting illegal immigrants. The Minutemen, which we can agree is a response to poor job of the federal government, has taken upon themselves to enforce border security. The thoughts of vigilantism is hurled by their critics, which is probably justified as we know that many so called activist groups often succumb to being the catalyst of rogue behavior, but what the Minutemen currently are saying is worth noting.

For whatever reason the Minutemen decided to bring their message to America’s elite, no not Washington DC but rather an Ivey Leaguelac School, Columbia University to be exact. The college is located in Manhattan, the great bastion of liberalism and only third to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

On October 4th Minutemen member Jerome Corsi was planning to read a piece from the book he co-authored with fellow member Jim Gilchrist entitled Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders. A counter demonstration against the group ensued and led to a nasty showdown. The counter demonstration was led by Karina Garcia. Before long the climax resulted in 500 showing their support for Garcia’s efforts and the Minutemen Project being denied their right to freedom of speech. The Minutemen are currently pursuing legal avenues against the University and Ms. Garcia. It should also be noted that Garcia along with Juan Jose Guiterrez, head of the Latino Movement USA, spoke on October 24th to a group at the Dominican Cultrate Foundation in Washington Heights, Manhattan. The forum was sponsored by Party for Socialism and Liberalism. Their website proudly displays the recognizable picture of Che Guevera, the famed Marxist revolutionary fighter from Argentina and Castro ally.

As much as your author would like to have seen the same attention devoted to the Garcia and Guiterrez forum the big media machine failed to pick up on its relevancy. While Garcia and Guiterrez will be seen by some as champions of human rights and common decency, while the Minutemen in some circles will be compared to the Klan, the truth is they are tools of the far left. These groups are the same as the MoveOn.org crowd and others. One could argue that the far right has just the same, most notably found in the John Birch Society, which has since been shunned by the right as being too extreme. However with the left the attention and legitimacy given to them is far greater. The denial of the Minutemen to speak by the actions of Columbia University students is not intently focused on.

A political party that offers a different twist is that of the Libertarian philosophy. Their goal is the removal of the federal government from our daily lives. This sounds nice but the end result will be the complete implosion of law and the rise of vigilantism. One could argue that the Libertarian Party is a classic example of the far right. The far left would just assume have the federal government call all the shots, own all the industries and throw out the concept of any personal thought. Evidenced by the Columbia University incident they would also grant amnesty to illegal immigration.

Whether it is far right or far left the end result is anarchy. If either has their way the idea of a Constitution will be abandoned.
