Today along with Senator Hillary Clinton, New Mexico’s governor Bill Richardson announced his campaign for the Presidency. Oh they may call it an exploratory committee but they will be running. Richardson brings little to the table other than claiming he could be the first Latino President. While your author would think a Hispanic President would be great, as long as she or he is able to properly lead, he is still scratching his head. Is it your author or does the reader note that Richardson lacks a Latin ring to it? Hernandez or Rodriquez yes, but Richardson? His pitch gets better.

According to Richardson, "I am taking this step because we have to repair the damage that's been done to our country over the last six years," Furthermore he adds, "Our reputation in the world is diminished, our economy has languished, and civility and common decency in government has perished,".

Has our reputation in the world diminished? Your author would disagree, given that plenty still set sail for opportunities here and the world is a safer place. North Korea now knows we won’t be extorted despite their threats of nuclear weapons. We know now that such policies (Carter and Clinton) fail in the end. We also know that there hasn’t been a terrorist attack on US soil since 9-11. We also learned who are true allies are and those who wish to engage with us, your author is thinking the UK and India. We know that despite the American’s flirtation with thoughts of hard socialism that in the end it turns out like a basket case, citing Russia and North Korea’s current desperate conditions. Your author is willing to bet that world is grateful that our country and our allies-not the United Nations-are the last resort and for better or worse the job gets finished.

In his economic argument, well it holds little water as well. Unemployment has been historically low. Inflation, although apparent in our buying power, has been in check relative to our history. Borrowing rates, higher than our previous lows, are relatively low. And for the final bit of proof if any of you are buying his claims can be found in a recent Wall Street Journal piece that stated the current national deficit fell by 50% and most of this was attributed to taxing corporate earnings. Richardson along with the rest of the Democrats will try to turn back tax breaks. All they will manage to do is slow productivity down and chase foreign investment away.

The mention of common decency by Richardson is also a poorly founded blip. Yes the Republican scandals were detrimental in trying to get pro active initiatives through Congress but what was the view of now Speaker Pelosi and her christening ceremony? This was her crisscrossing tour between her Baltimore roots and her San Francisco political background that culminated in a ceremony where ticket holders could be swoon by Tony Bennett at a grand a pop. Where was the criticism on this gross display of self arrogance?

Now your author is making a scenario prediction that can be applied to Richardson, Clinton or Senator Barack Obama as they campaign to the nomination for the Democrat Party. This same prediction can apply to all three if one of them loses the Presidential election in 2008. In the case of Richardson it will be ‘America isn’t ready for a Hispanic national leader’. In Clinton’s case ‘it’s a man’s world and America isn’t ready for a woman President’ and in the case of Obama, ‘Obama is too progressive and too Black, America isn’t ready to deal with racial prejudices’. What gives your author an indication of such claims? Well the press is already suggesting such questions as it relates to Clinton and Obama. It’s never about the issues and critical matter but rather surface and shine. There is no depth to the big media machine’s analysis. The media giants, along with most on the American Left, pull out their condescension and see the average American as an idiot or better yet-a racist homophobe bigoted sexist pig. Remember when the Left can’t fall back on creditability, which they never do, out comes the slandering and name calling. The media machine and the Left will refuse to give the average American their due, the idea that any of us could question any of the abilities or capabilities brought to the table by these three. The concept that the old Democrat mantra of recent years of proclaiming doom and gloom does not work well in America and is best left to European politics. If the reader does question, according the Left and the media machine, you are naïve like a child. Someone should tell the Left and their supposed intelligent community that ignorance may be bliss but in reality fails every time.
